Oxidation is an important limiting factor in all thermoplastics and thermosetting resins. Its effects include adverse colour change, loss of flexibility, loss of tensile strength and elongation, reduced impact resistance, cracking and other surface deterioration. Oxidation can also affect the molecular weight of a polymer, which in turn affects its other properties.

The oxidation of latex and rubber compounds can have different effects, depending on the type of polymer involved. Problems include adverse colour changes, loss of flexibility, loss of tensile strength and reduced impact resistance, ageing, cracking and other surface deterioration.
IONOL® CP is widely used in polyols for flexible polyurethane foams, where it protects the polyol during production and long-term storage, as well as preventing scorching during the formation of the polyurethane foam. Furthermore, IONOL® CP is also used in the production of colourless stabilized polyolefins as well as PVC and PVB films.
IONOL® antioxidants are widely used in most natural and synthetic lattices and rubbers.
